PROTECT LARRAKIA COUNTRY

PROTECT LARRAKIA COUNTRY

“Lee Point must be protected for future generations.”

That’s the message Larrakia Traditional Owners have shared for years — and it was reinforced when the National Indigenous Times reported that Northern Territory Labor has reversed its position on the Defence Housing Australia (DHA) project at Lee Point and now opposes the destruction.¹

This is a turning point. Federal Labor must follow their lead and support the calls of Larrakia Traditional Owners to return Lee Point to their ownership, protection, and care. Lee Point is home to sacred Dreaming and ceremonial sites, and remains vital for cultural connection and ecological health.²

As Larrakia people have made clear: there has been no consent for this project on their Country. Without urgent federal action, destruction will continue — putting irreplaceable cultural heritage and fragile ecosystems at risk.

Ask Minister Keogh to act now: follow NT Labor’s lead, cancel the DHA project, and return Lee Point to the care of the Larrakia people, so they can continue caring for it as they have for tens of thousands of years.³
